The lackluster performance of the Broadband (BB) market, primarily attributable to the technical and economic non feasibility of the fixed line infrastructure in India, indicates that the solution for mass proliferation of broadband in India has to be wireless. Recognising the strong correlation between broadband proliferation and increased economic activity and experience of the burgeoning wireless voice market, the Government had announced its Broadband Policy (2004) and most recently the Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) auctions in 2008 to accelerate BB adoption in India
