Lack of trust in the use of personal data threatens to undermine the digital economy Cellular News The Internet economy in the G20 nations is larger than the GDP of Brazil or Italy and is expected to nearly double to US $4.2 trillion by 2016. A new report from the World Economic Forum, produced in collaboration with The Boston Consulting Group, suggests that appropriate use of personal data can create enormous value for governments, organizations, and individuals. It can help achieve new efficiencies in business, tailor and personalize new products, help respond to global challenges, and empower individuals to engage in social, commercial, and political activities more effectively. But this growth could be severely limited without an effective set of "trade rules" to ensure the appropriate flow of personal data.

 | Insight | | | | Indian handset players seek foreign lands (Premium) - View Free SampleWith metros and tier-2 cities in India reaching saturation point, homegrown handset players are seeking greener pastures in foreign lands. Soon after the Indian handset makers anticipated the everyday increasing pressure due to flooding of new handset makers, the smarter ones took a safer route by entering the foreign turf. Many Indian mobile manufacturers have entered the neighbouring global markets and are taking advantage of similar telecommunications scenarios abroad. Our own research suggests that revenues in the Indian mobile handset market grew 15% to touch Rs 33,171 crore in 2010-11 from Rs 28,897 crore a year before. It also revealed that global players such as Nokia had lost market share in low-end segments to home-grown handset makers like Micromax, Karbonn, and Spice. This confidence of upsetting global handset biggies in the home-turf lures the homegrown handset makers to be more adventurous and explore new territories. |

Take a look at the different models available and select the one that works for you. Until recently, the PC industry was lazily dishing out bulky, 'fat' notebook computers that lacked inspiration. Amidst this occurred an unsettling change sparked by ARM-powered tablets that offered a whole new perspective on usability. As tablets became popular, these began to eat into the PC market share of Intel. The latter realised that it needed a new strategy to gain back the market share it had lost. Intel's strategy took shape in the form of notebooks that rival tablets in terms of portability. Contrary to popular opinion, Ultrabooks cannot be considered a new laptop segment--at least not yet. |
